Lundy was honoured to be chosen to contribute our expertise to the new Headquarters for the Ottawa Food Bank as construction manager. Designed by Architects DCA, the project included the renovation of an existing 32,000sqft warehouse and an additional 18,000sqft of support space containing offices, meeting rooms, and reception area. Central to this space is a massive 2,000-sqft fridge with a 25-foot-high ceiling and an adjoining 1,200-sqft freezer. The warehouse section included a new racking system that can accommodate roughly 1,056 pallets of food. This project has more than tripled the Ottawa Food Bank’s capacity to serve the network of food programs across the city – all in response to a substantial increase in demand for food assistance across the City.
On behalf of our valued client, the Lundy team provided solutions to manage industry cost increases within budget as well as solving issues related to unexpected long lead items, utilized our strong relationships with trade partners to ensure fair pricing and firm commitments to meeting schedule milestones. Schedule challenges were also minimized utilizing our highly effective company-wide “Visual Planning” process.
We are delighted to see the Ottawa Food Bank in their new home at 2001 Bantree Street, which offers them the additional space and functionality required to provide a critical service to our community.
